Component Engineer

Position Overview:
The Component Engineer will support manufacturing/plating and screening operations related to AEM’s Sn/Pb conversion (a.k.a. Tin Whisker Mitigation – TWM) product line. This person should have a strong background in passive components (capacitors, resistors, inductors, ferrite chip beads, capacitor arrays, resistor arrays, etc.). Previous experience with active components (diodes, MOSFETS, transistors, custom IC’s, QFNs) is also highly desired. The Component Engineer will work closely with the TWM Product Line Manager, Product Line Planner, Quality Assurance, Sales, Customer Service, and Screening operators/technicians to ensure that AEM meets the requirements of the company and its customers.


Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform customer drawing reviews to determine customer requirements and ensure that these requirements are understand and realized throughout the manufacturing, screening and lot acceptance processes
• Assist production (plating) and screening personnel with test equipment set-up (LCR meters, IR meters, DCR meters, diode testers, burn-in etc.)
• Generate procedures, route sheets, and drawings as needed to define manufacturing/plating and testing process
• Support AEM DPA Lab and QA personnel when questions arise regarding component construction or when anomalies are found during the inspection process
• Create customer reports for new product qualifications
• Interface with AEM TWM customers and AEM Sales and sale representatives during new product evaluations and when product support is needed
• Support operator and technician training and certification.
• Support CAPA program.


Skills/Qualifications/Core Competencies:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
• Accountability – Accept responsibility that allows for anticipation/prevention of areas where issues may result in missed deliveries or quality assurance standards
• Dependability – Ability to be punctual, consistent attendance, and supervise members of the screening team

• Teamwork – Must be able to work as a key member of a team to support Production, Quality Assurance, Sales, Customer Service, and Screening
• Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering degree
• At least 5-7 years of experience in a component manufacturing and testing environment
• Basic knowledge/understanding of ISO/AS9100 Quality Management Systems
• Previous experience with MIL-STD-202 environmental testing and MIL-STD-790 QPL Systems helpful

 

QA Engineer

Responsibilities
• Maintenance of QA inspection and testing activities to ensure conformance to all related specifications
• Preparation of QA documents
• Participation in PO review
• Preparation and review of shipping related documents
• Preparation and review of QA reports (Group C reports, FAI reports, DPA reports, reliability reports, etc.)
• Participation in internal and external audits
• Training of QA personnel
• Customer complaints
• Failure analysis
• Other functions specified by the company

Qualification and requirements:

• Education and experience: BS or BA degree in a science or engineering related field, experience in an electronic component manufacturing environment, experience in quality management system (i.e. ISO 9000, AS9100, etc.)
• Language: Good communication skills including ability to write procedures and reports
• Mathematical skills: College level mathematics
• Reasoning ability: Ability to define a topic, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office
• Supervisory skills: Ability to supervise QA personnel
• Technical skills: Knowledge of passive components production and testing
• Physical demands: Ability to work under pressure
• Other ability: Attention to details

 

Visual Inspection Process Operator

Position Overview:

The Process Operator will work with the Product Line Manager, Process Engineer, and Process Operators and Technicians to ensure that the visual inspection of the components is completed at the highest quality and in a timely fashion according to the required manufacturing schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of a multi-person team and exhibit the ability to follow instructions, observe process outputs, and communicate observations or concerns to supervisors
  • Ability to sit for long hours while performing visual inspection using microscopes per the documented procedures
  • Accurately maintain daily work and product yield records
  • Document process observations as part of continuous improvement goals
  • Ability to operate computers and electronic instruments in accordance with the documented process procedures
  • May be assigned to assist other process operators to support production goals based on aptitude and skill level

Skills/Qualifications/Core Competencies:

  • High school (GED equivalent)
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to sit for long hours using a microscope
  • Ability to use a computer with MS Office Suite

 

Process Technician

Position Overview:

The Process Technician will work with the Product Line Manager, Process Engineer, and Process Operators and Technicians to ensure that the manufacturing of the components are completed in a timely fashion according to the required manufacturing schedule and that all company and customer requirements for quality and reliability are met or exceeded.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of a multi-person team and exhibit the ability to follow instructions, observe process outputs, and communicate observations or concerns to supervisors
  • Perform required tasks per documented procedures associated with the manufacturing processes related to electronic passive components including, but not limited to, slurry preparation, tape casting, screen printing, buildup, lamination, cutting, binder burnout, sintering, tumbling, and destructive physical analysis
  • Ability to operate machinery safely and in accordance with the documented process procedures
  • Accurately maintain records and document process observations as part of continuous improvement and design of experiments
  • Use programs to collect and evaluate manufacturing processes to make in-process adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment
  • Determine and assist in developing methods and procedures to control, modify, or improve the manufacturing process
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting , and equipment repair
  • May be assigned to perform work of process operators to support production goals

Skills/Qualifications/Core Competencies:

  • High school (GED equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Associate’s Degree (AA or AS) in a technical discipline with a minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to use a microscope, measuring devices, and other electronic instruments
  • Ability to use a computer with the MS Office Suite and familiarity with AutoCAD a plus
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and perform the physical requirements of the job throughout the factory
